The Biennial of Puppetry Artists of Slovenia is organized by the Puppetry Artists Institution and Maribor Puppet Theatre.
As a central national festival, the biennial aims to present Slovenian puppetry to the broader domestic and foreign expert public (selectors, organizers and directors of foreign festivals and theatres, theatre critics and other members of the interested public), enable an exchange of knowledge and experience, showcase the most interesting content, and to award the best creations. It is both a festival and a promotion of puppetry arts.
THE 12TH BIENNIAL OF PUPPETRY ARTISTS OF SLOVENIA
The 12th edition of the Biennial of Puppetry Artists of Slovenia will take place between 6th and 9th September 2023 in Maribor, Slovenia.
The festival aims to promote Slovenian puppetry and to create the occasion for an exchange of knowledge and experience, with a showcase of the most interesting performances.
During the festival, you will have the opportunity to see ten Slovenian puppet performances for all ages as selected by Ms. Zala Dobovšek, selector of the Biennial. These performances come from various theatres, artistic and experimental institutions and organizations. English translations or summaries will be provided for all performances during the showcase.
A program of discussions and informal meetings will accompany the performances, to offer a broader overview of Slovenian Puppetry and culture.
