Poslušajte vsi človeki!

500 years of the Reformation in Slovenia

With Poslušajte vsi človeki! Carmina Slovenica will join the tribute to the memory of 500 years of the Reformation in Slovenia. On 31 October 1517 Martin Luther nailed 95 theses on indulgences or rather against them on the church door in Wittenberg, objecting to a part of the doctrine on indulgences and penance. With this act the period of the Reformation began in Western Europe. Protestant thought was introduced to our region by Primož Trubar who laid the foundations of the Slovene literary language with the first printed book. The Reformation in the 16th century gave the Slovenian people the first translation of the Bible, the first songbook in Slovene and the first grammar.

MUSIC: J. S. Bach, J. Brahms, U. Krek, Slovene and German Protestant chants
