13th Biennial of Slovenian Puppet Artists took place at the Maribor Puppet Theatre between the 10th and 13th September 2025. The festival, organized by the Puppet Artists’ Foundation and the Maribor Puppet Theatre, showcases the best Slovenian puppet performances from the past two seasons.
This year’s selection was made by Igor Tretinjak, who watched over 40 performances. He selected ten performances for the competition program and four for the accompanying program. The expert jury, composed of Ivo Barić, Tanja Komadina, and Maša Radi Buh, evaluated nine performances and presented awards.
This edition focused on puppet technology – the art and craft that lies at the very heart of puppetry.
During the festival, a Critics’ Seminar was held under the mentorship of Gregor Butala, with contributions published on the Lutka portal.
